Eagle National Bank Lends Support to Lansdowne’s July 4th Celebration

June 27, 2011 - While so many organizations are cutting back on activities, The Union Athletic Association of Lansdowne expects to put on “The Show of Shows” this July 4th, thanks in part to a generous donation from the Lansdowne Branch of Eagle National Bank.

Eagle’s donation along with contributions from residents and businesses will help to continue a tradition held in Lansdowne since 1904. As Eagle’s Assistant VP, Karen Doherty presented the check, UAA President, George Patouhas shared his excitement and gratitude, saying, “With this donation, we are thrilled to be able to hire a brand new fireworks company with an impressive and prestigious client list, which includes professional sports teams and Atlantic City casinos. They’ve promised us a spectacular show!”

On July 4th, an exciting parade, featuring the award-winning Fralinger String Band, is planned for the morning, followed by family fun all day at the Penn Wood High School Football field. Evening on the field will begin at 7:45pm, with music from local favorite, DJ Anthony Stefos, and will build to a grand finale that will light up the sky with dazzling fireworks, starting at 9pm. A “fireworks-only” rain date is set for July 5th at 9pm.

For more information, contact George Patouhas, UAA President, at 484-433-3895. The Union Athletic Association of Lansdowne qualifies as a public charity under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

Local Jobs Get Boost from SBA Loans

April 29, 2010 - Eagle National Bank reported that their SBA Finance Group has assisted in adding or maintaining approx. 300 local jobs as a direct result of their SBA lending efforts.

Eagle National Bank was ranked the number one lender of SBA 7(a) loans among Philadelphia area-based institutions by the SBA Philadelphia District Office. The ranking was based on the SBA’s “Loan Volume Report” for the first and second fiscal quarters, October 1, 2009 through March 31, 2010. Eagle National approved and funded nearly $15 million of SBA 7(a) loans for local businesses during that period.

The perception has been that banks were not lending during the past 12 months, but Eagle National became the number one locally based SBA lender by continuing to focus on its core competency of providing SBA 7(a), 504 and USDA loans to small businesses in the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

Lansdowne’s Union Athletic Association and Greater Lansdowne Civic Association, along with corporate sponsor, Eagle National Bank, plan a fun-filled Fourth of July for borough and neighboring residents. This year’s theme, “Grand Old Flag,” will be evident throughout the festivities. A full morning and evening program is planned, starting at 9 a.m with an old-fashioned parade through the center of town, followed by the Boys and Girls Clubs all-star baseball games, and culminating in a evening concert at 7:45 and fireworks extravaganza at 9 p.m. at the Penn Wood High School athletic field.

Founded in 1904, the Union Athletic Association has continually provided athletic opportunities for Lansdowne residents. In recent years, it has been the keeper and provider of the most important—and most attended—community tradition: the Fourth of July events. According to Tony Campuzano, President, Union AA, “This is the single largest event in our borough and brings thousands of people out. Even former residents bring their families and come back for the day.”

Karen Gardner, Assistant Vice President, Lansdowne Branch Manager, Eagle National Bank, states, “We strongly believe in community investment and we are proud to be contributing to the Fourth of July events for the third consecutive year.”
